Risk Assessment

Within the UK fleet market corporate responsibility for employees' Health and Safety and Duty of Care whilst driving for work, has come under high levels of scrutiny.  With the relatively new (April 2008) Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate HOmicide Act regularly making the headlines, businesses need to have the correct policies in place to ensure they are not exposed to unnecessary risk in this area.

The Work Related Road Safety Task Group carried out in-depth research on this subject which resulted in the publication "Driving at Work - Managing Work-Related Road Safety".  Stewart Whyte, our Managing Director, was direclty involved in this process, and our Consultancy has had much input in other safety initiatives, including addressing many conferences on the subject both in the UK and Europe.

Fleet Audits can provide bespoke corporate risk assessments to identify levels of risk, and then provide robust policies and document suites to manage any unacceptable risk exposure.  With these risk policy document templates, the re-writing of company car policies to incorporate risk management is quick and effective.

Businesses that allow employees to use their own vehicles for business journeys are potentially at even greater risk under Duty of Care.  Often there are few restrictions or checks on the type or age of vehicle being used for business purposes, with little knowledge from the employer of the roadworthiness and maintenance history of the private vehicle.

As an employer you must ensure that you understand the risks of driving for work, and act accordingly.  Fleet Audits can fast-track your fleet to safety.
